    What a Lucky 15 is

A Lucky 15 is fifteen bets on four selections: every single, every double, every treble and the fourfold. One winner is enough for a return because the singles pay on their own. Each extra winner adds more doubles and trebles to the payout, so the return climbs quickly once three or four come in.

Worked example: £1 Lucky 15, two winners

The picks are 2/1, 4/1, 3/1 and 5/1, for a stake of £15. The 2/1 and 3/1 horses win and the other two lose.

    Single on the 2/1 winner£1 × 3£3.00
    Single on the 3/1 winner£1 × 4£4.00
    Double on both winners£1 × 3 × 4£12.00
    The other 12 lineseach includes a loser£0.00
    Total£19.00

    That’s a profit of £4.00 on the £15 staked.

    Each-way Lucky 15s

Each way doubles the bet to 30 lines. The place half pays on every selection that wins or places, at its place odds. That makes it possible to get money back with no winners at all: if all four of the horses above are placed at 1/5 odds, a £1 each-way Lucky 15 returns £51.42 from £30.

    Questions people ask

How many bets are in a Lucky 15?

Fifteen: 4 singles, 6 doubles, 4 trebles and 1 fourfold, all on the same four selections. £1 a line costs £15, or £30 each way.

How many winners do I need to make a profit on a Lucky 15?

It depends on the odds. With picks at 2/1, 4/1, 3/1 and 5/1 and a £1 stake, one 4/1 winner returns £5.00 from £15, two winners at 2/1 and 3/1 return £19.00, and all four return £839.00. Use the calculator with your own prices.

    What happens to a Lucky 15 with a non-runner?

The non-runner counts as a winner at odds of 1.0. Its single returns your stake, and every other line that includes it drops a level: a double becomes a single, a treble a double and the fourfold a treble. You end up with two of each single, double and treble on the other three selections.

    Are Lucky 15 bonuses included?

No. Many bookmakers add their own extras, such as double the odds on a single winner or a percentage bonus when all four win. The terms differ from firm to firm, so the calculator shows the standard return and you can add the bonus from your bookmaker’s rules.

    Should I do a Lucky 15 or a Yankee?

A Yankee drops the four singles, so it costs £11 instead of £15 at £1 a line but needs at least two winners to return anything. In the example with two winners at 2/1 and 3/1, the Yankee returns £12.00 against £19.00 for the Lucky 15.
