Horse racing bet calculator
Pick your bet type, enter the odds and result for each horse, and see what the bet returns line by line.
How a multiple bet is settled
In a double, the returns from the first horse become the stake on the second. A treble carries on to a third, and an accumulator to as many as you pick. Every horse has to win (or place, for the place part of an each-way bet) for the line to pay.
Full-cover bets such as a Trixie or a Yankee are bundles of these lines. You pay the stake once for every line, and each line is settled on its own. The calculator lists every line that paid so you can match it against your bookmaker’s settlement.
Rules the calculator follows
- Non-runners count as a winner at odds of 1.0 in a multiple, so the bet drops down a level. A single on a non-runner returns the stake.
- Each-way bets double the number of lines. The place part of each line uses each horse’s place odds.
- Rule 4 deductions come off that horse’s winnings before they roll on to the next leg.
- A dead heat divides the stake on that leg by the number of horses that tied.
- Bookmaker bonuses, consolation payouts and maximum payout limits aren’t included.
Worked example: £2 Trixie with two winners
A Trixie is four bets: three doubles and a treble, so £2 a line costs £8. The picks are 3/1 (won), 5/2 (won) and 6/1 (lost).
Only the double on the two winners pays: £2 × 4.0 × 3.5 = £28.00. The other two doubles and the treble include the loser. That leaves a profit of £20.00 on the £8 staked.

Questions people ask
What happens to an accumulator if one horse is a non-runner?
The non-runner is treated as a winner at odds of 1.0, so it neither adds to nor cuts the return. A treble with a non-runner is settled as a double. £5 treble at 2/1 and evens with a non-runner returns £30.00, the same as a £5 double.
How does an each-way accumulator work?
It is two accumulators. The win accumulator needs every horse to win. The place accumulator needs every horse to win or place, and each leg is paid at its place odds. If one horse is unplaced, both parts lose.
How many bets are in a Heinz?
A Heinz is 57 bets on six selections: 15 doubles, 20 trebles, 15 fourfolds, 6 fivefolds and 1 sixfold. Each way it is 114 bets.
What is the difference between a Yankee and a Lucky 15?
Both use four selections. A Yankee is 11 bets (6 doubles, 4 trebles and a fourfold). A Lucky 15 adds the 4 singles, so one winner on its own still returns something.
Can I use this for football or other sports?
Yes, for win bets. Enter each selection’s odds and mark it won or lost. The each-way and Rule 4 options are for racing.
